PostPosted: Tue Aug 02, 2005 4:15 pm    Post subject: Static in line and no dialtone Reply with quote Back to top

I recently moved into a new house and established cable service with TimeWarner in Clinton Mississippi. The speeds I surf at are constantly above 4mb/s with decent uploads. My problem is that after hooking everything up I noticed that in the middle of the night I lost dialtone. A simple reboot of everything and unplug/replug of all the cables fixed it. This has since happened 3 times in the past two weeks and sometimes when you pick up the phone you get awful static. Last time I ran into this problem I plugged a new phone directly into the back of the adapter Motorola VT1000 and still did not have a dialtone. I have had Vonage for close to a year and experienced none of these problems at my last house in Georgia. Any suggestions?

Static hmmm.

have you unhooked (disabled) the phone lines coming into the house ? Also I have found when you unhook a line from the box and reconnect, it does require a reboot

This is a brand new house never had the phone line hooked up outside. I've unhooked phone lines and replugged them in the past and never required a reboot. I just realized that the end of the cable outside may be laying on the ground after the cable company moved everything to hook up their connections that might be part of the problem.
