Feature Request: Incoming number blocking
The ability to maintain a list of numbers that can not call my number. Traditional Verizon service offers this feature. Sometimes there are certain people that you wish would stop calling you. Give them a busy signal, direct them to voice mail, etc.
Extensions: Perhaps some wild card possibilities.
Extensions: Time constraints on the numbers.
Extensions: Exception numbers that are always allowed to call.
Examples:
Prevent calls from X-husbands.
Prevent calls from a known crank caller.
Prevent all calls after 11pm.
Thanks,
Brent |

Thanks for bringing this one up.
I have a friend who won't switch to Vonage until they provide call blocking (both anonymous and blocking for specific numbers). It would be really cool if you combined this with auto-forward and/or distinctive ring for specific numbers... If you listed VM as one of the auto-forward options for specific numbers I could take care of blocking unwanted callers myself. |

I have brought this up before but it went ignored. I am glad that there are others that appreciate the need for such a service. |

I've been reading this forum for a while in hopes that I can find this very information about blocking calls. I really would like to see this happen. |

AT&T Advantage has a feature called 'do not disturb'
where no calls come thru during your specified hours
but i think with a code - they could.
And blocking would be great too - although the
truely psycho ex-husband and stalkers will go to a pay phone. |

People have been asking for Anonymous Call Rejection as well. All that can be gotten from Vonage is that they are aware of the desire for these services that will provide us with a little privacy, but there are no plans in the foreseeable future. There is a device that can be purchased and installed on the RJ11 cable to the phone. This device will supply Anonymous Call Rejection, Do Not Disturb, Call Blocking, as well as a few others for about $80. It is somewhere discussed in this forum but I can't remember what it is called. I come up empty when I do a search for it. |

I do this with asterisk. I put the phone number in of the person I dont want them to call and it forwards it to a message that says "Please Stop Calling" |

Well I just found out that AOL's new Total Talk is now in operation and it has call blocking . I have 1 month of Vonage free left so when that is up.. If they still do not offer call blocking..I will be switching to AOL |

So far 100% of us want it out of the ones that voted. Now if it can only become a feature. |

The only thing I've missed since moving to Vonage is "caller privacy". Close enough.
We receive regular calls from a Private number as well and they always hang up. I don't know if the feature would help with that since there's no number to block.
I called Vonage a month ago, again, to find out the status of this feature (I've wanted it for a while) and the rep claimed he had been in a meeting recently where this feature was discussed. Supposedly the discusssion was "positive."
Thanks for the poll. |
