I am sure that they are not withholding it on purpose...Right now E911 is the main drive for them. Once that is done, I am sure that ACR will be the first feature implemented...

Also, FYI, some phones ie Uniden Tru8866 which I use has a Do Not Disturb function built into it. One press of a button and it mutes all the ringers...

Well I just found out that AOL's new Total Talk is now in operation and it has call blocking . I have 1 month of Vonage free left so when that is up.. If they still do not offer call blocking..I will be switching to AOL

Might as well leave now cause it isn't going to happen in a month people have been waiting over a year + and not even a word from Vonage to when.

Call blocking is one of those features I had with BellSouth that I didn't realize I really needed until it was gone.

There are only 2-3 numbers that I normally had in call blocking, and now that I've switched to Vonage, those same numbers are annoying the **** out of me again. Sure, I can go through doing the police reports, filing formal complaints with Vonage, and put up with the hassle. Or I guess I could switch back to BellSouth and pay the extra $12 or so and get my call blocking back.

Why doesn't Vonage add this feature?

FWIW, a week after I switched to Vonage, BellSouth sent me a "we're sorry" card offering me the full services package + free long distance for the cost of a basic line. Something to think about.

Something to think about, yes, but how long is the contract, and is that just to woo you back and then standard rates will apply after a certain amount of time?

According to the legalese, the rates apply indefinitely (no expiration), and the free long distance is for residential use only (no telemarketing, running business from home, etc). As for a contract: no minimum required.

I *was* a bit pixxed that I had to leave BellSouth before getting the good rate.

Perhaps if I leave Vonage, they'll add Call Blocking. Smile

What I'd like to know is who the pinhead is that would vote against this. I can't really think of any legitimate reason to object. IMHO the only reason why someone would NOT want this feature is to hide something they shouldn't be doing anyway. I actually found this forum by searching for the feature and was really surprised to find out that it doesn't exist.

Just for the record, the exclusion of specific numbers would be nice, but the anonymous call rejection is an absolute must IMHO. Also if implemented, there should be a clear indication to the caller that their call has been rejected because they are calling anonymously, preferably with instructions on how to "unanonymize" themselves on the major service carriers. Being able to record your own message would be a really cool feature.

"If you're trying to call me but you don't want me to know who you are until I pick up the phone, please go screw yourself" Nana

I'm sure Vonage monitors these forums, but what's the best way to make sure that our voices are heard? (except for the pinhead) Rolling Eyes

The ironic thing is that this forum may well cost Vonage having me as a customer. After finding out that AOL will be offering it in their VOIP product, I'll give Vonage a little time but if plans for implementation don't get underway soon, I will definitely be seeking out other VOIP carriers.

I can only hope that if I have to leave to get it, it's not to AOL. I believe they are to blame for at least the first wave of the truly clueless hitting the internet.

Hello,

I have been a vonage customer for about 3 years, and would also like to see call blocking added. This is a basic feature that all phone service should offer.

Please for the love of God add this feature. It seems unfathomable to me that I have a VOIP switch in my room and can't tell it to ignore #'s that annoy me greatly.

If I get annoyed enough, I'll probably have to start looking for someone who does offer it. Cry

Is there any ETA in the implementation of this feature? Are the PMs and the marketing people in Vonage aware that their customers are starting to see this as a feature that moves the balance towards other SPs?. Please we need this!!! Thanks.
