I did a search on this forum and most folks seem to believe that if you get the:
"Router still restarting. Please wait a moment."
Message it means your RT31P2 is dead and need to get a replacement.
I've had the router for a grand total of 4 days now (worked fine for the first 3 days). I powered down my LAN (all the networking equipment as well as the computers and phones) last night due to severe thunder storms. I powered up everything this morning and no dial tone. Also in the "Voice" and "Status-->Voice" tabs I'm getting the "Router still restarting..." error. I've tried several phones, restarting the router, even doing the "hard" reset using the button on the back side of the router with to no avail, after 2 hours of trying almost everything recommended on this forum, I still don't have dial tone.
Anybody know how to expidite getting a new router? And how not to get another Linksys one?
Thanks! |

You need to call CS and tell them you had a thunderstorm and also whats happening with your router now.
They will send you a new router and you will be charged $99 but when Vonage receives the damaged router you will get that $99 dollar charge removed so it will cost you nothing.
Also, it will be the same exact router! |

I actually turned everything off hours before the thunderstorm... In any case, I called CS and they said that I'd need to try a "soft reset" of the router before they send out a new one... Does anybody know if the "soft reset" ever works? |

The soft reset should have been done while you were on the phone with them. Then, if that didnt work, they would send you out a new router right away. |

Well after an hour on the phone with tech support, a new router is on the way... Why in the world do they have you try 30 ways of "resetting" the router? Good thing I'm still waiting for them to port my land line, otherwise I would have had to call from my cell. |
