I am moving in the next few days and thinking about switching to Vonage. Now browsing through this wonderful forum, I have to say I have learned a lot about Vonage.

My question is that, currently [B] what is the best deal around to grab?[B] Should I order online, for example, the ad right on this website or directly from vonage.com or should I buy from Best Buy or other retailers?

What I understand that hardware plays a critical role in Vonage. What is the best way to ensure I would get good quality hardware? Buying online from Vonage or from retailers?

I hope I haven't asked too many questions. Any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Long Live Vonage

All of the deals are about the same. Many people report problems getting the rebates when the buy retail.

Personally, I think if this site has been helpful to you (as you claim) you should use the coupon link found on this site and get a free month of service.

The guy that runs this site pays for it via that coupon. (Vonage pays him).

I'd definitely do it through this site (which helps pay for this site) or through Vonage.com. For you, the deal is the same -- one month free, the only difference is that this website doesn't get a kickback if you go straight to Vonage. I wouldn't do the retail thing mainly b/c you'd be on the hook for the Vonage phone adapter if anything ever happens to it. If you signed up for service through this website or Vonage.com, Vonage sends you the adapter "free" (you'll have to return it when you're done with Vonage or get a new adapter) *and* if anything goes wrong with the adapter, Vonage sends you a new one.

Thanks a lot guys for your comments. It was really helpful.

I think it is definitely good idea to buy from this site. I Just need to clear up few issues.

In one place it says that: Vonage special offer, get a credit for a free month of service. In anther place it says: Sign Up For Vonage Online here Receive A FREE Linksys Router And Your Second Month Of Service FREE!

Does this mean that if I sign up in this website I get in total two months free and a free linksys router?

Is this free router a wireless router? If not, should I use my old belkin wireless b router or I should try to get a new one? I heard quite a few complain about issues regarding router.

I would highly appreciate any answer and thanks a lot in advance.

Vonage will rock my world!!!

I think you only get one month free.

It is not a wireless router. It has 3 ethernet ports, 1 WAN port, and 2 phone ports. I would recommend using your Belkin as a wireless access point. When you get around to setting it up forum members will help you.

Thanks a lot arcking for your reply.

I am still not sure about the deal. Why would they mention about second month, my understanding was that it is because the first deal takes care of the first month but I might be wrong. Any body else can help here?

Do you have any idea whether my Belking wireless B router would affect the the quality of Vonage service? If it will, should I get another router [any suggestion regarding the router would be great]?

Thanks again.

Since the Belkin will be behind the RT31P2 there will be no effect on the quality of calls. You will connect the Belkin to the RT31P2 from a port on the RT31P2 (1-3) to a port on the Belkin (1-4, not WAN). You will disable the DHCP server and NAT firewall on the Belkin and it should work as a wireless access point.

Vonage is now offering users their first month free when they sign up. With a referral they only get their second month free. Makes the referral system worthless doesn't it? I called support and that's how it works - they don't get first and second month free with a referral
