Post subject: IS it possible to connect vonage without a router?
i have a switch and i would like to keep the switch. could i connect the
Vonage
adapter to the switch? would it work?
if not the adapter then what about connecting the
Vonage

i definatly dont want to use a router since it slows my downloads down BIG TIME

You would need 2 IPs from your ISP

A router should not have any effect in speed.

How are you connecting to the Internet now? Just taking your post at face value you have an Ethernet switch between your cable modem and your PC. Your PC would then have a public IP address.
If this is the case the switch is unnecessary unless you have other devices connected to it although they cannot access the Internet at all (but could access each other.)
If you wanted the
Vonage
router to work by just connecting it to another port on your switch then you would need a second public IP address as arcking stated.
If a router slowed you down that much you either have a bad cable, wrong config setting or possibly a port mismatch.
