I'm a Vonage novice (Vonovice?) Will I be able to use a phone jack splitter with the female on my free voip phone adapter, and hook up as many phone connections as I want? I have a multi-handset cordless, but also some classic phones in my house I want to hook up |

Keep in mind that some of those "classic" phones may have an unusally high ringer requirement (voltage). If you put too many phones on the vonage line you may experience problems with all the phones ringing at one time and you may miss calls coming in. |

Thanks. I told you I was a novice. I'm trying to decide if Vonage will suit my needs and nothing on the Vonage website seems to make this clear. |

just ask here.
what seattlezoid is getting at, is the devices have a 5 ren limit. the ren requirements of the phones should be written on them somewhere. add them all up and see if they're under 5. |

Got it. I've got a Sony in the bedroom that says ringer equivalent is 2.0 B. Ren must mean ringer equivalent number or something. That is the only one that needs to ring.
The other main "Classic" is a rotary with no ringer in it (it was a an office non-ringer). I might also hookup a cheap handset in the basement and patio which are currently hooked up.
The real issue is that the ones I don't need to ring might overtax the line such that the ones I do get to pick also won't ring. I should be covered by the fact that my main Uniden multi-handset cordless will get its own "hole," and the "gravy" phones will just have to share, with the possibility of ring impairment. |

You might double check that one by removing the cover and eyeballing. Some of those old mechanical bell ringers were quieted down buy either removing the bells or adjusting them so the clapper wouldn't strike them.
Edit... Also I don't believe a rotary (pulse) dialing will work with Vonage. Never tried it though. |

I have tried rotary dialling... At least with the Linksys box, it's a no-go |
