Do any of you know when or if Gatineau area Code (819) is supposed to be available? I can't wait because I currently still have my bell line along with my Vonage account.
Any info is appreciated
Thanks |

I haven't heard anything. I chose a 613 (Ottawa) number and am so happy that I did. Now everyone can call me toll free. When I had a Gatineau number (819-684) for the Aylmer Sector, people in old Gatineau could not call me toll free, nor could people in Kanata, Orleans, Bar Haven, North Gower, etc. With my Ottawa number, I'm toll free throughout the entire region, including old Gatineau.
Imagine - Bell has Gatineau setup in such a way that it is long distance to call one part of the same city that you are in, from another. Yet you can cross the river to Ottawa and it is toll free to call both places. Bell has really got to go. |

Off topic I know, but I thought I'd throw that in there, cuz I'm excited to be leaving tomorrow morning.. yay a week away from here !!!! |

The reason why I'm looking forward to any Voip provider (if not Vonage) providing numbers for gatineau (even better aylmer 819-684-xxxx) is so I can get my family there to disconnect their bell laneline and transfer their number to Voip. I know I wont even try convincing them to go Voip if they'll have to lose their number.
So Hurry up and get Gatineau in their already. Christ |

Same here. My girlfriend won't let go of our phone number, and therefore we have to be able to transfer it to Vonage to be able to get rid of bell for good.
Primus is already offering it. What is Vonage doing? Falling behind? |

Primus is now offering Voip to the 819 area code in the Gatineau region. Unfortunately they are only offering the "Hull" sector of Gatineau so far. You still cannot get 819-684, but you could get 819-595. |
