HI All..

I have comcast broadband, hooked up to a lynksys wireless router (WRT54G or something like that)

They have been working great, no problems. All the laptops of everyone around can get online without a problem too.

I bought the Vtech ip8100 broadband phones, and am having a hard time.

I have the phone's base unit hooked up to the router as per the instructions. In the instructions, it says that after you hook everything up, the ready indicator light will flash orange. It is doing that now. It also says that once the ready indicator light changes to flashing green, you are all set, but do not try to use the phone before it turns green.

Well, it was flashing orange yesterday when I went to sleep. It is still flashing orange. I tried one of the phones anyway, and it does not work.

I would really like to get this working quickly, since my phone company called me yesterday (SBC) and told me that my request to transfer the # has gone through. So I need some kind of phone for the house.

By the way: I ordered Vonage online, and it came with the standard broadband router (rt31p2) but I DID call Vonage and give them the new MAC address of the new phone system to use that instead. They said it was switched without a problem.

Does it work if you plug it directly into your modem? Did the RT31P2 work?

I never tried the RT31P2, as I got that about the same time as the phones.

Plugging the phone base unit into the modem does not help.
THe phone still flashes yellow, but I also cannot access the web.

Nermind. I have it working now. Originally, I had plugged in the power cable for the vtech base, then the ethernet cable from that to my router. I guess it makes a difference if you plug in the ethernet cable first, then the power cable.

By the way, the Vonage helpdesk people were actually very helpful. (after some of the posts I read on this forum, I was expecting a nightmare)
