Hi I'm new to these forums and I'm hoping someone at last can help me. I have been trying to hook up Vonage for my mom since yesterday morning and I'm getting no where. I've called Vonage 3 times and they have no idea what to do. We got instructions even from the Vonage website and still nothing. We hooked everything up just like it said and still no dial tone and neither of the Phone 1 or 2 lights are on. The internet light on the Vonage router is kind of flickering but not blinking. I can't go the the site it recommends for the PPPoE because I get a page cannot be displayed. (http://192.168.15.1) We have one computer hooked up running Windows XP, the Linsky's router for Vonage, and Verizon DSL box Versa Link model 327W.
One other thing, it says to run an Ethernet cable from the router to the modem and then another Ethernet cable from the Router to the computer but when we do that we lose our internet connection.
So can someone please explain to me in plain english exactly how to hook the Vonage up to Verizon DSL and if I need to go that website above how do i get there without getting the Page Cannot Be Displayed error???????
We would REALLY REALLY appreciate any help you could give. TIA
Jenn & Kathy

Try this:
Run an ethernet cable from the modem to the WAN port on the RT31P2.
Run an ethernet cable from the computer to a LAN port on the RT31P2.
Now, try to get to http://192.168.15.1/
If you can get there, then you should be able to set up PPPoE. After that's done, Vonage and the computer's Internet connection should hopefully start working. |

Okay that worked to get me to the site but when i type in my mom's username and password for her DSL and click save settings it does that refresh thing for 8 secs and then the password is longer than it's supposed to be, back to what it was before i changed it. Then when i go the Status tab then Router it says Connecting and that's it. I really don't want to call Vonage back because they have been absolutely no help so far. Any other suggestions?

That password probably just shows up as a fixed number of stars all the time. Are you SURE you entered the correct information?
Frequently, the username is a whole email address, ending in @something.com, and they're both case-sensitive. But, it all depends on what your ISP is expecting the info to be. |

Thanks for the reply but I didn't purchase it from the store. I'm sorry to be such a PIA but I really want to get this hooked up for my mom. |

No problem... just trying to help.
Have you rebooted the router since you corrected the authentication information?
I would try unplugging the router, waiting 10 seconds or so, and then plugging the router back in. |

Is the computer's Internet connection working yet?
Oh, and if you haven't already, unplug the power on both the modem and the router for a few seconds... for the heck of it. |
