Is Vonage available in the 604 area code? I just purchased a starter kit from London Drugs but it looks like you can only use the 250 area code in BC. Let me know if anyone has any information on this.
Thanks! |

That's odd...
I have a 604 area code with Vonage, but on the Canadian Version of Vonage when I looked up 'Number Availability', the only area code offered is 250 Victoria.
I'm not sure what's up. Maybe they're out of 604 numbers right now or maybe there's a glitch somewhere. Try calling Vonage CS for Canada and ask them? |

Well they emailed me back and said this:
"Due to heavy demand we have currently run out of "604" phone numbers - Please check the following link later on this evening as we will be working throughout the day to get more numbers added to our network."
So hopefully some will become available soon. |

Yes, I also have a 604 #. They must be out (and have been for a while), but hopefully they can get one for you quick!
If you don't get one within a day or 2, return it to the store until they have one (to avoid warranty and/or return issues).
Vonage service rocks, and I couldn't be happier to be away from Telus (and have been for a year!).
Costs before Vonage ---------------------------
Phone w/ extra features ~ $80 p/m High speed internet ~ 40 p/m Total $120 p/m
Costs after Vonage ------------------------
Phone w/ all features ~ $40 p/m High speed internet ~ 40 p/m Total $80 p/m
I've been a customer for over a year, and the math is looking pretty good |

I appreciate the responses, part of me was just trying to find out if it was impossible or if there were customers using 604 numbers. I got yet another email from them today saying it could actually take a week or two but that I could get another area code as a main number and a 604 as a virtual number. Anyone know how this works? If I could get a virtual 604 couldn't I get a 604 main number?
Thanks again! |

Yes, you 'can' get a virtual 604, but under the same condition, only when they become available. I just checked, and couldn't add another 604 number, so you'd be stuck with a '250' main number.
Also, virtual #'s are an extra $7.99 per month (plus a $12.99) initial charge.
Apparently Vonage is going to add a 'bunch' of new exchanges in the western region about the end of August, so that is probably what's causing the delay. They're probably too busy getting ready for that, than working on replenishments.
Sorry about your luck, because its well worth it.

I waited and waited for Vonage to offer phone numbers for other cities/towns in BC besides Vancouver and Victoria. Good thing Webcall came along. It seems like a better deal. No termination charges as long as the ATA is returned. Unlimited calls to all Webcall cities for $15.95. Works fine since I've coupled Webcall with Skypeout. I use Skypeout when making calls to the US. It's cheap and there's no monthly charge. |

I'm looking for a 250 number and the don't currently have any lists, actually there are no BC numbers available at this time. Does anyone know when 250 will be available? |
