Update I gave up last night on waiting for six months to have my LNP go through. Now I am finally able to experience the feeling of NO LAND LINE! And It's a great feeling. I did find it interesting that while I was on the phone with Qwest they said they had no record of a transfer request at all. It does stink having to start all over with a new number. |

Wow... 6 months!
I don't blame you for pulling the plug! Your LOA must have gotten lost somewhere! Did you ever check with Vonage about the status of your transfer request? Others have gotten credit in the form of free service (months) when things like this happen.
My Qwest transfer took about 6 weeks! I thought that was too long! |

You beet I check with them. About every two weeks I would call and get the same old response "It generally takes 5-10 business for the carrier to respond and here is your ticket number" Never had a problem getting a credit. I even tried the new paperless method before pulling the plug but tired of waiting and getting telamrketing calls from Qwest. |

You assume it was Vonage. I had similar problems with Qwest in Colorado. An email I recieved from Qwest suggests that Qwest itself was part of the problem. Folks like Qwest have too long been without real competition and do not like it when tech upstarts muscle in on their turf. Of course they would not of received it. I suspect the transfer request may have been filed in the round file. By the way, I went 5 months waiting for my number to port and after a slew of emails to various VIPs, I got my number. And I only went 4 days without local service. |

While watching the formums, it is apparent that experiences vary widely. Eight days is the most quickly, while six months seems the longer group. People have successes and failures with all of the main carriers, although, by and far, the baby bells seem to take the cake. I am sure that Qwest played a part in my delays because of an email they sent me. However, Vonage has its problems too. Qwest played a part for the LNP, but the time lapse/delays before the process even got started/moved forward was a Vonage issue. Judging from Vonage's rapid growth, I would expect delays. Even if these delays are angering (and expensive).
Regardless who is responsible, the only way to make the transfer happen more quickly if it is being delayed is to make a pain of oneself via email and phone calls to Vonage. |
