http://www.vonage-forum.com/article2045.html

Looks like Vonage will soon be offering the new Motorola VT2442 Router/ATA combo:

(photo of the VT2400; the VT2442 is probably similar)

Based on its features, the VT2442 could potentially take the place of the RT31P2. With luck, maybe Motorola's firmware won't be as buggy as the crap Linksys is spouting nowadays.

you don't think the point of the rtp300 was to replace the rt31p2?
I have no idea, but am wondering why they're coming out with so many new devices.

They are coming out with new devices simply to improve service and broaden choices available to customers.

how does an adapter improve service? if it works and uses the same codec(s) it should be the same. the only differences I can see is router, non-router, wireless, non-wireless. what is the difference between the rt31p2, rtp300 and VT2442? broaden choice? heh, ok...I guess there are some motorola lovers and linksys haters, but is it that significant?

Reebok,

Im sorry I should not have used the word service. Im doing 10 things at once Smile

What I mean, for example, is having added an extra ethernet port(4 in total) so some people can do away with the extra router they have in the mix which will in turn have just our router on the network of the customer. That would improve the QOS for Voip since our routers put Voip as priority and if they had another router before ours it would cancel out the QOS .

Not a very good example, please forgive me, but I think you get the idea. Its busy here today Wink

Thats it man, It is significant. Some people hate linksys so much that they would not even want to use Vonage if they had to use a linksys router.

Up until the WRT54G(S) series of Linksys routers, you could have put me in the haters group... I've had so many BEF* routers go belly up on me that they were more of a liability than anything else. That said, these WRT54GS routers have changed my view of Linksys -- they've taken all sorts of abuse I never expected a consumer-grade router to handle... like 50+ users and an outgoing broadcast-quality video stream without any hiccups. So far the RT31P2's been good, but I've only had it for a day (165 mins put on it in that time). I'd be interested in a Motorola unit b/c they usually do make better-quality products, but you won't find me running out to get the very first one. I'm sure it'll have its growing pains like all recent technology products. Once it matures, I'll consider it.

Choice? The only choice I had was the RT31P2, take it or leave it!
