Vonage e-mailed me to inform me that the port failed. I called my prior carrier and cancelled the account, effective immediately. I caught them before they billed me in advance for another month of service.
That's the good news.
I replied to Vonage's e-mail telling them to cancel the number transfer request and make my virtual number permanent. It isn't done yet, and the caller ID on the Vonage line still says my old number.
How do I get this fixed immediately?

My experience is you have to wait and it should take less then 24 hours for the change to take place and be prepared for for your voicemail box to be messed up in about 5 days.

Ugh..bummer.
I hated when I was in number porting purgatory that the virtual number did not display on the caller ID and when I called my old number from my Vonage line, it went straight to my voicemail.
The whole porting thing is a nightmare. Hopefully I'll be off that merry go round soon enough.
