Call up tech support and tell them you'd like for them to change a few settings on your router. All of the USA techs I've spoken with were totally unaware of these features or how they worked, but once they saw the Sipura screen, they were more than happy to cut & paste everything for me... and I'm a US customer, not UK customer. It's a little bit strange, but comforting to pick up the phone & hear what sounds like a BT line in the USA.

Yeah, I showed them the Sipura screen, but as per the post above they said they were going to do all UK routers soon and refused to change anything but the ring-tone.

Sounds tempting to have my US style ringer changed but I think I will stick with what I have. Dont know how my telephones would react to that strange ringer.

So far I've had no issues with it.. Fax machine, a couple of single line telephones, a few cordless phones, all work nicely on it. and I'm using all USA phones

Actually I was thinking about this earlier. The USA invented the automobile yet the UK seems to think that they can drive on the wrong side of the road. The USA invented the telephone but yet the UK has that strange ringer. Whats up with that Smile

It's all down to a case of what your used to. The UK telephone system is pretty good,(apart from abolition of local dialling codes; and no difference in outgoing tones, ie strowger, crossbar txe4 etc now just system X or Y) and if you've had a lifetime of the uk ring and tones suddenly change,it can take some getting used to. It's just a matter of preference. Interestingly Vonage UK offer 1471 (in US *69) but they offer 141 in the form of the US *67. Why? The reference to "pound sign" for "hash or square" can be confusing too.
I'm not saying that there's anything wrong with the US tones, but at very least UK customers should have the choice of how near to standard BT,NTL,Telewest,Kingston,Jersey,Guernsey Telecom etc etc progress tones and feature codes they receive if deciding to take a Voip service, and not be left to the default ones of the issuing/originating suppliers country.

As some readers have noticed we have changed the ringing tone to the UK style (although some people still seem to prefer the US tone).

We are also working to offer the standard 141 service instead of *67. This should be available in the near future.

We are also working on changing the voicemail prompt from "pound" to "hash" but I am afraid that will take much longer, I can't give you a specific time frame but, rest assured that change is being worked on.

We are working to ensure that all of the functions of Vonage in the UK work exactly the same way as standard UK telephones. Please continue to let us know of any bugs that arise you things that should be changed.

I can't guarantee we will change everything but we will try to listen.

best regards
