I received the email below today. I have *not* contacted Vonage prior to receiving this:

"Dear xxxxxxx xxxxxxx,

We are following up on your request to transfer your number
1-(xxx)-xxx-xxxx. Given the length of time to process your request, your account has been credited ($10.00). We are working with your phone carrier to expedite your request as quickly as possible. You will receive an email when your number has been transferred.

We apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Sincerely,

Vonage Customer Care
Number Transfer Department

Email: numbertransfer@vonage.com
Phone: 1-866-496-6359"

I am porting from Verizon in Marland. My transfer was sent to the carrier on July 2nd. I have the $14.99 plan. I certainly appreciate the credit. More so, I hope they are trying to expedite things with the transfer as they say. We shall see.

Might want to find the phone # porting tool on their website and check again to see if it is "portable". For me it took them 2 months to figure out mine wasn't portable.

Hi Stettin,

I checked again. Still shows portable - keeping my fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear of your problem.. 2 months to figure that out isn't good at all! I guess I should be prepared to make my virtual # permanent in the worst case.

got the same email. my eLOA was sent to the carrier on july 4th. porting from bellsouth.

i wonder if they are going to just hand out a 10 dollar credit instead of crediting you your month free since you still have your POTS service stil activated. IIRC, some have been getting their Vonage service fee waived since their porting was taking so long...

Tronixx, Do you ever get the feeling that this will take a long time?

Vonage has added a new feature to the number transfer process. Any number transfer delays over the 20 business days they ask for will be credited automatically. This is for accounts activated after July 1, 2005.

... so what are they going to do about accounts registered before July 1 that have taken longer than 20 days? I signed up on June 10th and haven't been transferred yet, and never recieved any kind of refund.
