This is exactly what I did, and I was charged 10.29 (including tax) to port my old number to Vonage, plus it took Qwest 6 weeks to allow the transfer so I had extra charges there.
Be sure to follow the advice of others who replied here to avoid any charges!

When you first sign up an initiate a number transfer you are not charged. If at a later date you wish to do a number transfer there is a $9.95 charge plus tax which comes out to be $10.29.
