I think it's about time someone put there foot down and demand Vonage to fix this ongoing known issue. This is not just a coincident that every 16 minutes users are experiencing 1 way audio, this is Bull$&*@ and uncalled for. I've had it with this service, I'll go back to SBC and pay the extra money for a converstaion that will last more than 15 minutes. Vonage tip toes around this problem when thousands of users are picking their tech brains to find work arounds. Voip Technology is still in the infant phases, Vonage is at the denial phase. Linksys will not do anything, my ISP (Time Warner) states there's nothing they can do & Vonage tech support is doing one hell of a time with job security. Thoughts? |

Unlike SBC, Vonage has little control over the network that your voice calls go over. From what I've seen, most of the call quality issues are related to the user's internet connection, not Vonage's service. I get plenty of complaints on my web video streams, and 95% of the time it's on the user's end and there isn't much I can do about it on my networks or servers.
Additionally, if you bothered to read the terms of service, you would have noticed that you agreed to an arbitration in place of a jury trial. You also agreed to hold Vonage harmless for any service interruptions/glitches.
Personally, I have more issues with Time Warner than I ever have with any other utility. Useless techs, plenty of excuses. |

Yeah, I tried that once, but for some reason, all the lawyers hung up on me after 16 minutes. |

Question: If you purchase a car do you expect that car to be one that is reliable? Or do you expect the car to be a lemon and find out that the dealer won't do anything to correct your problem? Come on media needs to get a hold of this and they will get to the bottom of this. Consumer Reports would have a field day with this topic alone. Sack up Vonage and take one for the team! Admit there's a problem and post to your users that you are aware of the open issue and your trying to repair.. It's not 1 ISP my friend, check the posts prior to mine regarding multiple users experiencing the same issue. |

The car analogy fails on this one. The car manufacturer has 100% control over the quality of the car before it leaves the factory. Vonage, on the other hand, has no control over the internet. . Take the car analogy that you proposed. Is it the manufacturer's fault that you're putting kerosene in the gas tank? In this case, YOU are providing the internet connection, not Vonage. It's up to YOU to have something adequate for the desired use.
It'd be nice if Vonage could provide direct service from their switches to your home, but we have that already, and it's called your local phone company. It's expensive, archaic, and failure-prone as well. Sprint is the ILEC (local phone co) at my other residence, and sadly, my cell phone is more reliable than my Sprint land lines there. Invariably one of the two lines is either out or has static on it. Fortunately for you, Vonage isn't a local carrier, so you do have a choice. If you're really unhappy about Vonage, why do you stay with them?
