Seems no one ever takes the time to say something good anymore....
We live outside of Dallas and are located in what is called an 'extended metro area', translated that means we pay astronomically high prices for phone service. Our bill was averaging $80 per line/month, with our minimal long distance. We had 3 lines, you do the math.
I needed a business line so I gave Vonage a try. I have a Comcast 4mb/384kb connection that has served me well so I wasn't afraid of Voip. The box arrived in a few days and it was as simple as plug and go. I added a dedicated fax line a few days later using an HP6100 all in one that required a simple software upgrade to make function properly. Neither line has given me a hint of trouble.
We moved our home line and my wife's office line over, added her a fax line during the last month. All voice lines were transfers and were moved on time without any problems.
I now have 3 RT31P2 routers behind my DLink WiFi/Wired router working beautifully and a total of 5 lines in the house.
I called Vonage support to discuss my call waiting light constantly blinking and she told me to restart my adapter and that an upgrade had already occured that would fix this.. just needed rebooting. Worked perfectly.
Voicemail, web admin, forwarding... etc all work beautifully. I have sent out referrals from my admin gui and had a few buddies signup, received my credits immediately. They are happy with Vonage as well.
I'm saving about 250.00 per month with more lines (my wife's business lines were about 100.00/mo) than we had previously and enjoy the same quality of calls.
I am getting what I paid for with no issues. I'm happy.
Now.. if I can just get some mailboxes...
(For those of you wondering if I work for, or am affiliated with Vonage in any way... the answer is no.) |

I hear ya... American... I have had Vonage for 2 going on 3 months and I'll tell you what the bill is soo pocket worthy..... after all that money I spent with MCI. Any way I was a little confused at first getting all my lines hooked up and only using port 1( for my system) disconnecting my lines from the old service lines, rebooting and all but , the sound qauilty is fantastic messages via my e-mail notification, call waiting etc., etc. virtual # too.
Oh ya I have a blinking message light that wont stop but sounds like from reading your post I just need to reboot for the upgrade ....how easy is that!!!!!!!!
The new wireless phones are coming out July 24 2005 , might be worth the investment for me $149.00- $50.00 rebate additional phones $49.00 Then I can screw my hard phone lines all together they sound like crapola anyhow (well not totally)
I wish I could get some stock in the company cuz this is the wave of the future.. (Ojo is next)

Agreed. I've had Vonage for about 3 months now and love the service. The only downside I have noticed is that when we call certain people (my Wife's Mom as an example), we hear an echo on the phone half the time. It doesn't really bother me though, and I've only noticed it with calls to their house.
The Vonage site claims this is because of old crappy phones or crappy wiring on the other end of the connection. Either could be the case as far as I can tell.
Nevertheless, I love my $17/month (roughly) phone bill now since I'm on the 500 minute plan. |

Yep, since I switched over to Mediacom cable from my previous wireless ISP, Vonage has worked perfectly without one hiccup. Saving over $50 every month here. Laughing all the way to the bank! |

I have 3 friends who've both had Vonage for over a year now, all have had excellent luck with it. I also have a friend in the UK who signed up for Vonage UK about a month or two ago and has been enjoying it. I just ordered Vonage service for myself this past week. Depending on how it works out, I'll switch over my business lines over to Voip as well. It should be interesting as I have a microwave internet connection at that location. |

At a whole, whopping 10 watts, you stand a better chance of the sun popping the popcorn than my microwave dish. Fortunately it's not too long of a hop, otherwise I'd have to worry about rain fade in the tropical monsoons here. |

Typically people love to rant and rave, and you will notice that there are alot of 1 time posts form people complaining here, and you never see them again...Kind of fishy to me...
Once my ISP (Adelphia) cleaned up some of the latency etc my service has been rock solid. |

I believe the rebate only applies to new Vonage customers. |
