Wondering if anyone is in the same situation as me: Living with two other roomates, Vonage is hooked into the cable modem/router in my bedroom. Is there a cordless phone out there that has 2 base units that show messages, etc? I would like to put one in my bedroom but also have on in the kitchen for the other roomates to view messages, etc. Basically an expandable cordless phone that has 2 of the same bases? Ive searched a little on Circuit Citys website but really couldn't find it. Just naked bases for the expandable handset to charge on. Thanks. |

What do you mean by "show messages"? You can just dial *123 from any of your phones to get to your voicemail. |

and the "naked bases", at least with the uniden tru series and I suspect most others, have a voicemail light indicator that blinks on new voicemails. |

Sorry, should have been a little more descriptive. A cordless phone you could buy that shows on the base: caller id, speaker phone, access to vm, how many messages are waiting, etc. I understand that I can purchase any expandable phone and just have my roomates dial *123 to see if they have any messages. I just was curious if they sold duplicate base phones that operate off the same line. Kinda of like having two of these: http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Panasonic-Cordless-Phone-KX-TG5431S-/sem/rpsm/oid/119559/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
I know it's nitpicky, just curious. |

I have a Uniden and everything is visible both on the base and handset (that doesn't have a base) but has its own charging station independent of the base. All the caller ID info, flashing light for voicemail, it's all on there.
Most of the phones you'll see under "top rated" on Circuit City's site have expandable phones, meaning the phones can operate independently of the base including their own dedicated charging cradles, while allowing you to access all the features of the base, like voicemail.
Apologies if you already were aware of this. |

I doubt you'll find what you claim to be looking for. Base stations are designed to be servers, not clients.
If you want the base station in another room, you can either run the Vonage throught the existing phone wiring, or get one of those wireless phone jack extensions. |

Best bet are the Uniden TRU series cordless phones. The remote handsets show everything the main screen on the main base does. |

New Cordless Voip Phone System
July 21, 2005
By Staff
Yesterday, Vonage and VTech announced that the IP-8100-2, cordless broadband phone system configured with Vonage’s flat-rate full-featured phone service will be available at over 8,000 retailers July 24, 2005. This product, configured with the Texas Instruments (TI) TNETV1060 Voip chipset, has a Retail Price of $149.99, and offers $50 mail in rebate after sixty days of service.
The phone base has integrated routing features eliminating the need to purchase a separate router to share your broadband connection with your PC. The ip8100-2 will come with two handsets and is expandable to up to four. The phone plugs directly into an existing broadband connection or router, eliminating the need for a stand alone adapter and telephone. The retail price for additional handsets is $49.99 per device.
Not sure if the additional charger has the feature your looking for. Will find out tomorrow though. |
