OK. I'm a bit peed off right now.

While browsing various news sites, I visited the Drudge Report (no comments please Smile ) and received a Vonage pop-under ad. I got this even tough I am runing Firefox, which is supposed to provide better protection than IE from these annoying things.

If anyone from Vonage reads this, PLEASE STOP THIS !!

Pop-under ads (or Pop-Ups for that matter) just pee people off. This is no way to win new customers.

I make it a policy to avoid any company that would subject me to these things. This is especially annoying since I am already a Vonage customer.

On the other hand, if you want to drive customers back to the telcos, then never mind.

Im sure Vonage is paying a company to advertise for them and have no control on how the company produces these ads.

I love popups. I enjoy when about 100 pop up and bring my computer to a grinding halt. Lol

It's possible that they're unaware of it happening... Complain via their Spam links and let them know... let them know which website you received it on as well so they can track down which advertiser did it.

Vonage Spam Policy

Zero Tolerance for Spam

Vonage has zero tolerance for spam. Spam complaints will be dealt with seriously and can result in losing Vonage privileges such as loss of referral credits and even loss of a customer's account. If you receive spam and want to report it to Vonage, please forward the email you've received to spam-police@vonage.com.

VonageTPA,

Isn't SPAM different than a pop-up ad? Why do you think that Vonage should care about the way an ad is delivered?

The definition of spam is traditionally unsolicited advertising, usually through e-mail but, to me pop-up adverts fall into this category. Most of the time, companies who have pop-up ads (short of the few ubiquitous ones, such as X-10) aren't aware that their ads are pop-ups. They pay money to an advertising firm which does the rest.

Vonage is very much an internet company, and as such, I'd imagine their executives are aware of the negative public perception of pop-up adverts, and would not want to be associated with them. Not advertising is better than advertising which alienates your potential customers.

I see. Your definition of spam is a bit broader than what I am used to seeing. I hope Vonage will make a good decision.
