Hi,

Long time reader, first time poster...

Is it common to have a faulty router? Here is the brief history on what happen: I received my Phone Adapter Tuesday (07/19/05) and hooked everything up fine. The phone worked up until this morning (07/21/05). No dial tone, no lights for phone! Internet is fine. So I call CS (India). They were very helpful in trying to help me however they were unable to fix the issue after several restarts so they are sending me a new Router (I had to ask them for a return ticket so I did not have to pay for S&H).

So my question is does this happen often? There were no power outages/surges last night. Even if there was I have it plug in my battery backup.

I've been reading the forums to see if anybody has had any problems with their ISP blocking Voip but no one with problems using RoadRunner. I live in Memphis Tennessee, is there anybody else in Memphis using Vonage having issues? I have a very simple setup for now since my phone number had not been transfered yet. (Modem -> Router -> phone)

So anyway back to my original question, how often do the routers go bad? Is it common? Obviously I do not want to exhange the router every week and be without service.

I have been through one RT in a year...sometimes it does happen..

As for the return, make sure if it has not gone out that they overnight it..Trick for the future if need be...

When you say the internet is fine, do you mean no problems with the ISP or you can connect to the internet through the router?

Thanks for the info.

When I said the Internet is fine I meant that I can connect throught the router.

I just got my service working early this week.

Did CS have you perform a hard reset on the RT31P2?

I was having issues with my Phone1 line going inactive. I suspect it may have been due to me not allowing the RT31P2 to fully initialize. Hard resetting the RT31P2 got it running well.

Not to beat the horse...but when you say your access to the internet is fine. Do you mean that you can access "The Internet" (access to web sites, download e-mail, etc) when you have the RT31P2 installed? When I was having my issues there were no problems with access to the Internet...it was just the Phone1 connection (connected to a corded phone) that was providing my frustration.
