Ok here's the setup:
I have Comcast cable. I have the cable modem going to the Linksys wired router. Then I have 1 of the 3 ports going to the D-link router. What's happening is that when I get on the phone, the laptop and 1 PC using a wireless connection are unable to use the internet. As soon as I get off the phone, they work fine. Now I have 2 computers connected via CAT5 to 2 ports on the D-Link wireless router. The internet connection on those 2 computers work perfect when I'm on the phone.
Ok this might be a dumb question: The D-link wireless router uses the 2.4GHz frequency to send/receive data wirelessly. The phone I'm using uses the same 2.4Ghz frequency. Wouldn't these 2 devices have some sort of specific sub-frequency spectrum so that they don't interfere with each other? Could this be why the internet wont work from wireless connections when I'm on the phone? I have no clue. It's 2:30am so nothing is open to get a wired phone to test this theory. Anyone have any suggestions to what the problem might be?
Thanks for any help. By the way the 2 routers, the phone, and the modem are all located in the same place. |

Did you have the 2.4 GHz phone and the 2.4 GHz router before you switched to Vonage? If so, I assume they didn't interfere before you got Vonage?

I have the DI-524 and have not encountered any interference issues. However, I must confess that I have not tried to work on the wireless notebook while on the phone. Some have suggested changing the channel on the Dlink router so that it would have less of a chance to interfere. Something to consider. Mine is on channel 11. Hope this helps, mundy5 |

Steve: I bought the 2.4GHz phone when i signed up for Vonage. I have 3 roommates and we all just used our cell phones.
Mundy: I haven't tried switching channels yet on both the router or phone. Great suggestion. A very simple but overlooked possible solution. Thanks! I'll try that. If that doesn't work I'll try getting a non-cordless phone or a differerent frequency cordless this weekend when i finally have a day off. |

Mundy the channel change fixed it all!! I called to cancel Vonage last night because they couldn't solve the issue. But luckly the department that handles cancellation was closed. Now I'll be keeping them thanks to you |
