Post subject: Repalcing the MTA
I've got a Motorola VT1005V MTA that seems to have quit working after a FLorida thunderstorm when the power went off. I've read through all of the documentation and tried, unsuccessfully, to get the MTA to come back online. The lights blink but no one's home (read: lights blink in sets of 4 and then never go solid). I don't have the time for the lines to be down and not have ANY type of phone service. I'm planning on going to get another MTA at Best Buy tomorrow and see if that resolves the issue. I imagine that it will, bnut the question would be, How do I transfer my service over ot the new MTA?

You will need to call CS and give then the MAC address from the new adapter. I have done this before and it is quite painless. Of course you will have to wait on hold until someone actually answers the phone (that part is not always painless).
