Had my first go-round with Vonage call waiting today, and all I can say is Wow.
It's impossible to ignore it...I've never heard such a loud, intrusive call-waiting signal in my life. I know you can turn call waiting off, but does anyone know if there is a way to shorten how long it rings in? |

hey, it sure beats my talking speedometer idea:
"YOUR SPEED IS 54 MILES PER HOUR." "YOUR SPEED IS 55 MILES PER HOUR." "YOUR SPEED IS 55 MILES PER HOUR." "YOUR SPEED IS 56 MILES PER HOUR." "YOUR SPEED IS 55 MILES PER HOUR." "YOUR SPEED IS 55 MILES PER HOUR." "YOUR SPEED IS 54 MILES PER HOUR."
Aaaaaarrrg! *crash*
...
"YOUR SPEED IS 0 MILES PER HOUR." |

Yeah callwaiting doesnt beep much for me but it does make it hard to talk to the person your on the line with when it is beeping like crazy for 30 or 40 seconds. Wish it would beep maybe 3 times and then go to voicemail.
Speaking of talking speedometer, its always nice to jump in the company truck which has GPS and if you go over 75MPH it lets out a loud SCREACH tone. You have to turn the radio up all the way in order to even get somewhere in a good ammount of time. |

I am there with psg, mine makes a good loud beep and cuts the line for about 2 seconds...either I ignore it or have to explain to the person on the other line what it is...discreet it is not! |

Bah! I hate call waiting. Just turn it off.
That said, is it possible to have folks routed to Voice Mail when you are on a call, but not to voice mail when you aren't on a call (so that a local answering machine can pick up)? |

I never turn Call Waiting on. I'm not good at multitasking! I also have been harboring the theory that if it's important the caller will call back. If it's not then I just saved some time. It irritates me no end when I'm talking to someone and get put on "hold" while they check an incoming call! |
