Has anyone successfully ported your number OUT of the Vonage system and to another Voip provider? |

You can, if you brought the number with you to Vonage from your POTS or cellphone then yes. If it was a Vonage assigned number then you can not expect them to... |

[B]I have been a Vonage customer since January and had them assign a number for me. Just this afternoon, I received a phone call from my local regular phone service and got a much better deal. I specifically asked the rep if it was possible to port my number to them because Vonage assigned me the number. The rep told me it was no problem what-so-ever. The only problem I would have is to wait 20 days from the time I called and switched for the porting to finalize and the rep set up my voicemail right over the phone so I could start using voicemail right away. Just to make sure, I dialed the voicemail access number and entered my current Vonage-assigned number; and I was able to log-in. Now I am just waiting for my number to be ported... |

I became a Vonage Customer in Feb 2005. Vonage assigned me a number. I did NOT bring a number over.
After months of poor quality, I decided to see if I could move the Vonage assigned number over to SBC. Well, 5 weeks later, I had my Vonage assigned number ported over to a SBC POTS.
It can happen, just be patient. I followed up ever week with SBC to make sure that something wasn't held up.
Good Luck!! |

For some people its not just about price. If they want a service that "Just Works" and Vonage is giving them trouble and/or bad quality and/or bad service, then the extra cost probably worth it to them. The Bells are no angels, but at least you can get (usually) somebody on the phone. |

Have you called Vonage to see what the reasoning was? |
