I purchased 2 Linksys WRTP54G routers and signed up two separate accounts with Vonage.
My home router works but in order for me to gain internet access I need to specify a DNS address. It will not obtain an address automatically.
If I take this same router to my 2nd location then it works fine. It will obtain a DNS address automatically.
At home I have a Terayon cable modem connected to the router and an ethernet cable connecting the router to my desktop PC.
My phone will only work on port 2.
My 2nd router works at the second location without any problems and it wil obtain a DNS automatically. The phone works in port 1.
I have yet to try the 2nd router at the first location but will do so tonight. I am also going to try the laptop from the 2nd location at home to see if it's my desktop which is causing the problem with the DNS.
I did connect the cable modem directly to my desktop and could surf the web and it would obtain a DNS automatically.
