Post subject: WRTP54G Firmware Update procedure fails
I have tried updating firmware v. 1.00.18 using the procedure(s) outlined in this forum, but get nowhere.
At first, i was getting
"Error: User not allowed to login this user level"
when giving "user/tivonpw" at the login page for 192.168.15.1/update.html. However, after logging into 192.168.15.1 as admin, and trying 192.168.15.1/update.html again with "user, tivonpw", I get a different error:
"Error: User not enabled to login into the system."
Has anyone else experienced this? Is there another user/password that will work?
I found the following on another forum (
http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,13891227?hilite=wrtp54g+firmware
)
Quote:
"Also the posting over in Vonage-forums, did not mention that you have to unplug the WAN from the modem, and plug in a static IP into the computer that will be doing the push."
Any help would be appreciated...

Just in case anyone else has had this problem, here is another username and password (both are case sensitive) for the firmware loading and resetting to factory defaults:
username: Admin
password: f197mrwW03

Do this, which worked for me. Connect via Cat-5e to the router, unhook your Wan cable from your HSI modem to the Router. Set a 'Static' IP on your computer that you have the firmware on (192.168.15.100 is what I used for my laptop, Subnet: 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway: 192.168.15.1).
Once you have the static IP set, log into the router at
http://192.168.15.1,
use Admin for user, and whatever password you set it up with (default is user: Admin, Password: Admin). Then go to the following page after logged in:
http://192.168.15.1/update.html,
and browse for the firmware file, and your router should update.
The Power light should flash, and it should then be at 1.00.37 firmware.
Log in at the update page with User: user, Password: tivonpw

I assume you meant
192.168.15.100
, because 192.168.16.100 doesn't look like it should work.
