I've been trying now for 2 nights to get Vonage up and running. My virtual number has never worked...I get the prompt "the number is temporarily unavailable...I104"...so now I am cut off from the world. I can MAKE calls, I just can't RECEIVE them. Thank goodness for my cell phone that I could test these features. So, I call tech support...make sure you have an hour or so to wait and a Valium onboard so you can endure the horrible music you have to listen to while you wait...and then after a myraid of telephone number prompts Habib eventually answers. You can't hear him or understand him.....then your disconnected when Habib tries to route your call to the next Habib! Now, you get to do it all over again!
I'm fairly computer literate and set up the RT31P2 as the quick installation literature suggested. I disconnected the phone wiring from the house and hooked up the cable modem to the RT router and the router to my computer, Win XP. The phone line went into the phone port 1 of the router. I registered my Linksys and configured it online. When it didn't work I checked and rechecked and the phone still couldn't receive incoming calls, with my home number nor the virtual number Vonage supplied. I have a dial tone, but, when I called using my cell, the phone rings but I don't hear it ringing. I am at my wits end and have decided Vonage doesn't deliver and the equipment they send you are pieces of crap! (Maybe they are rejects from previous disgruntled customers and from the looks of it there are many!)
So, IMO, if you want crap get Vonage! Your local landline phone company may be a lot more expensive, but at least it works and Habib won't be answering!

That's a nice way to put it...Habib...that shows alot of thought and intelligence..

Have you ever thought that the issue may reside with your ISP? You never mentioned what ISP you are using, you cable modem model and firmware, or really anything that can have someone here help you out....

So before you go complaining, why not actually use the forum for what it is here for and get the situation fixed?

I for one LOVE vonage!!!! it has NEVER failed me and I really need 24/7 phone service as I am diabetic,, I have calls forwarded to my cell and in turn got a VERY important call from my Dr. concerning my diabetes....Had I not had the call forwarded I probably would of ended up in hospital... Cry
GOOD JOB VONAGE....!!!!
don't let one 'so called' customer get you down!!!
there are more satisified customers than not...

Glad to hear that Nancy! Your story is one that people need to hear more often, as people usually want to focus on the negative side. We need to hear more about those types of great stories.

Someone has mentioned it before, and I will say it again. I am always skeptical about people who come on the forum, and their first post is bashing Vonage, yet they choose NOT to allow anyone to help them out by not posting the information needed.

I agree with you Trowski, but many of the people who would be getting so upset would be doing so because they're not computer people, and because they're not computer literate they don't think of posting specific equipment.

Although, when the title is "Don't waste your time....Vonage/RT31P2/tech sup terrible!" they are obviously trying there best to bash Vonage and are not just confused.

And same here, I agree with you also, but doing a simple search on the forums should get you some answers, and then see some possible fixes...AND would show what needs to be posted to get some technical response...
Why go through the hassle to sign up for the forum just to bash it? Seems like a waste of time to me, but to each their own....
