I've had my WRTP54G for about 5 days now. Unfortunately, I didn't read any of the reviews of this unit on the forums before I purchased, and I am now kicking myself for laying my hands on the box. Aside from the usual problems, such as 1-way calls every now and again, my WRTP54G has just decided to stop working alltogether. Posts on Linksysinfo.org show that I am not alone.
A firmware upgrade was pushed to me yesterday morning without my knowledge, and I have not had a working router since. The router will reboot, come online for about 4-5 seconds, then reboots again. I have tried manually resetting the modem in a myriad of different boot stages; none work. The firmware just does not work with the router.
If there is a way I can trash the firmware, then it would be usable. But as far as I know, I can only update the firmware on a stable box.
*sigh*
Vonage seemed like a good idea there for a while. It's a shame this product has to cause so many sour experiences. |

I'm having the exact same problem. I downloaded the 1.00.37 firmware to install, but the damn thing won't stay on long enough for me to even login to the web interface. Help!!
BTW, my router's been offline for over a month now and still has firmware v1.00.18.
hox-ii, when you call tech support, let me know how it turns out. I'm really hoping there's a simple solution because I don't want to have to ship this piece of junk back to the States. |

If you stick a pen in the reset hole in the back, it will take it back to the factory defaults. 1.00.37 seemed to fix all of my problems, but it's only been a day. |

I had the same exact problem.
I am 2 days new to Vonage and here is what is going on.
You have to get the router firmware upgrade. It is that simple and your problems should dissipate within minutes.
I had weird stuff going on too, besides having to reboot the router every couple of hours I would get calls that would go straight to voicemail and then the phone would ring with no one on the other end!!
Then I called Vonage customer service and while on hold I heard a one sided conversation with someone else that I couldn't get out of, then after they hung up with that person another one came on and I heard that one sided conversation as well.
I then hung up, called back, held for about 25 minutes and got a French guy who I explained my problem too and he said I guarantee you need a router firmware upgrade.
He pushed the upgrade through, and waited on the line for it to finish, and I have had no problems since.
However I am giving it the full workout and not transferring my number just yet, and I will see how it does over the next month.
This forum is a great resource, and I appreciate it. |

I realize how to manually reset the router. The problem isn't with some configuration that I did. The problem exists in the firmware itself, and the fact that the router just doesn't like it. If I go and plug the router into the wall, it will get to a normal state and reboot within 5 seconds. This will continue on and on until I unplug the router.
It is impossible for me to try and push a firmware update, because I can't even get on the thing before it reboots. The manual reset only resets the settings to default; the firmware stays the same in the flash memory, and so the router continues to fail to boot up. |

I guess that wasn't made clear enough. It's not rebooting every few hours, it's rebooting every 10 seconds. |

To make things even more interesting, I finally returned that router in exchange for a PAP2. When I called to have my MAC address changed, they told me the new PAP2 MAC address is invalid.
Sure enough, even if I try to sign up for a new account on the Vonage website, it tells me the PAP2 MAC address is invalid.
*sigh*
I'm starting to rethink those "People do stupid things" commercial. Fool me once, shame on you... fool me twice, shame on me. |

Hey guys, did anyone find a solution to the continuous restarting problem with this stupid router. I had a similar problem the first time i got the router. I finally convinced the customer rep that the router is defective and got it replaced for another one. But now, it is happening again with the new router too. This is absolutely unbelievable. And the router doesnt stay on long enough for me to log in and update the firmware. Please help!!! |

Arrrgh. This product has been NOTHING but problems since I received it.
I have one in Florida and one in Houston Texas and both are down rebooting constantly at about 10 second intervals.
Anyone have any idea how to fix this?? |
