I'm moving from FLA to VA in about a month. I plan on keeping my Vonage service, but want to get a local VA number. I've noticed a link on the my Vonage account page that seems to indicate that you can change your number online. Has anyone used the online link to change their number? Any issues or problems? |

You can make your exsisting FLA number a "virtual" number but if you have a VA "virtual" number you can not make it a main (non-virtual number)....I made that mistake when moving from MN->IN, took a virtual number before the move then went to make it the main number, couldn't do it so I had to get another IN number (but they did waive the fee the second time around) |

that is actually incorrect. if you really wanted to make a virtual number a primary and vice versa, it can be done if you press the issue a little. |

I actually don't need to keep the FLA number. Just want to change to the VA number. |

jsfrederick,
Aside from the $9.99 service fee for changing your number, there is apparently no other fees for changing your number. I have not seen any negative feedback from people who wanted to change their number. So my suggestion, give it a shot. I can't imagine Vonage dropping the ball when they can make a quick $10...
The only concern would be to make sure that such a local number is available for you before requesting it. |

According to this page, changing phone #'s seems to be free: http://www.vonage.com/help.php?article=477
How do I change my phone number?
You can transfer your number at any time by going to www.vonage.com and logging into your web account. Next select Billing and click on "Change Your Phone Number."
You will be given the option to choose a new number or transfer your number.
When choosing a new number you can manage incoming calls to your old number by selecting one of three options:
* Permanent Call Forwarding with Virtual Number
You keep your old number as a Virtual Number, forwarding calls to your new number permanently and never falling out of touch with important people. This costs $4.99 a month. * Temporary Call Forwarding
Your old number will stop forwarding calls to your new number after seven days. This 7 day courtesy is provided by Vonage free of charge. * No Call Forwarding
Your old number stops taking calls immediately. There is no charge to activate this feature.
When choosing to transfer your number you will then proceed to the transfer process screen where you can enter the number you wish to transfer.
Please note that regardless of which option you choose, ALL stored voicemail messages associated with your old number will be DELETED PERMANENTLY AFTER SEVEN DAYS. |

VonageTPA,
Although it appears to be free, if you go under FAQs for billing, you will see a service charge for changing your phone number $9.99. |
