On some calls I am hearing a recording (much like the recording at the start of a voice mail system) when placing or receiving calls. its not my voice mail box and I have to wait until the recording stops before I can hear the caller. The other end cant hear the recordings.
Any ideas?
Thanks

2 out of every 15 calls (either inbound or outbound) we here on our end a voicemail box recording (that isnt ours) stating to select a mailbox to leave a message. This doesnt occur on the same number and it happens mainly on outbound calls. I cant determine whose mailbox it is (its a generic message). The person on the other end of the phone cant here it but we can on our end.
We use wireless Siemens phones (with base), Comcast Cable.
No other issue other than this.
Let me know if you need more info |

Which model or frequency of cordless phones do you have.
(i.e. 2.4 Ghz or 900 Mhz or older) Since only you can hear it, it is most likely the cordless phone at fault. Some 900 Mhz phones have DSS or Digital Spectrum Spread which avoids crosstalk. If your phones are new I would ask the vendor for an exchange on a different model or unit. |

a little clarification...
when you guys hear the VM message, is it at the beginning of the calls (be it an inbound or outbound call) or does it happen randomly DURING the call? if it happens only at the start of the call than i dont see how it could be a phone issue...that would seem to be on the line sicne it would happen at a SET place (i.e. during the start of the call).
now if it happened randomly throughout the call then i can see it being the phones issue since it could be picking up another frequency at random intervals... (but could still be a line/VOIP issue as well).
i guess if you guys have a good ol analog phone that you could use that would put some ideas to rest... |

It actually occurs on outbound calls only (got clarification from my wife!). It occurs at the beginning of calls only and once its complete it doesnt appear on that call again. I thought the phone answering machine (it has a built in machine thats turned off) was causing the problem but I verified it was turned off. I thought if it was the phone it would occur more frequently.
I have been having some comcast issues (ISP) for the past 15 to 20 days so maybe its releated, although the problem has been ongoing longer than that. |
