Equipment: Westell 327W wireless modem/router and Linksys RT31P2, using Verizon DSL. Two computers connected to the Westell wirelessly (with WEP).
Internet light on the RT31P2 steady then flashing every few seconds, regardless of activity on the telephone (same for that Ethernet port light on the Westell). Light on the telephones steady unless activity on the telephone.
I seem to connect to called party, but no voice/sound passes either direction. Fax line doesn't seem to work either.
Dashboard shows calls, and call forwarding seems to work okay, but can't use the lines to communicate.
I've rebooted a few times, following what instructions were available.
I think I've adjusted the bandwidth down on the bandwidth saver (but I've been having problems logging in to check.)
This has been going on for several days now. Is this a common problem, and any tips? I have yet to make a successful call.
I don't see exactly this problem in the forum, but maybe I'm missing an analogy. |

testyourvoip.com is a more relevant test anyway. Latency and packet loss are much more important than speed. |

I've run the speed test several times, albeit through the modem, not through the Linksys router. The downstream has been 2M+, and the upstream ~800k (although I've recently gotten flukey readings higher than the downstream). There have been various readings on the other measures e.g. 58%, 94, and 233 if I recall correctly. I haven't figured out how to capture the info from the applet so I don't have a record of the several tests. I'm not using a windows computer, so I cannot use the other website suggested. I did try the bandwidth saver, set at 30 kb/s, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. Where to go next? |
