I contacted support by email to ask about the problem with incorrect outgoing Caller Display - the fact that it was showing me as 'Out of Area' when I called others.
Tech Support sent me a message saying they'd 'refreshed the settings on your Vonage phone adapter' and indeed this does appear to have fixed the problem!
However, I had reason to call Tech Support today (to chase up my dongle to make sure my phone actually rings - now arrived) and after speaking to them, I discovered that I'd returned to appearing as 'Out of Area' again. I power cycled my adaptor and all came good once again!
So, it seems just a little temperamental to say the least. Maybe when I spoke to tech support they did something that messes up the caller display? Who knows. |

but having said that...
Looks like I spoke too soon as by the end of the day, my outgoing Caller Display is starting 044208... instead of 0208...
Oh well
Let's hope they get this fixed soon! |

I've had this problem since signing up to Vonage in May. Have been on to support today who are "looking into it having raised a ticket" Out of a total of 15 calls to my mobile as a test and 5 to the BT Landline only 3 calls actually displayed caller id correctly. i.e 01xxx xxxxxx 4 came up "private," 4 came up "not avail" and 9 came up 0441xxx xxxxxx. Not good!! |

My experience is very similar to yours.
I plan to keep the pressure up on this one as it is one of their selling points. I need this to work if the service is to be useful to me. |

Tech Support contacted me today telling me the prolem had been resolved.
The only problem is... it hasn't! First call I tried came up starting 044..., the second was correct, but the third displayed as 'Out of Area'.
I assume others are still seeing the same problem. |

Thanks for the comments on the caller display. We are aware of the problem and are trying to fix it as quickly as possible.
We will let you know when it is working although some people will probably notice it a lot faster.
Thanks for helping us identify some of the problems.

Hi Kerry,
Great news to here this problem is being actively worked on. Any idea when it may be fixed?
Tech Support have been a little slow responding to be. For instance, they've not responded to my 'no, it's still not working' message at all. From that route it feels like the problem is being ignored, so I'm glad to hear via this route that it's not. |

Any news or update as to when this caller display problem will be fixed. Having a few moments to spare I've just dialled my BT landline 30 times from my Vonage number and only 4 numbers came up as 01xxx xxxxxx the correct format
14 came up as "not available" and 12 as "0441xxx xxxxxx"
sometimes the number never even connected and emmitted an unobtainable tone instead.
The caller display really needs to be fixed asap as some people have anonymous call rejection which kicks in if your number isn't carried correctly. OK if you've dialled the hopefully soon to be 141 (currently *67) but not when you're just picking up the phone and trying to dial out
No-one can return a call in the uk that starts 044 or if they get 441xxx xxxxxx and dial that chances are they get someone in their local area as a wrong number
At ALL TIMES when dialling out from Vonage the number should be presented as 01xxx xxxxxx or 02x xxxx xxxx if you happen to have that area code (020,024,023,028,029) and only appear as withheld if you have prefixed the call with 141 (*67)
This problem for me has been ongoing since the end of May 2005. Please let's get it sorted. |

Vonage support have told me today that they can find no fault with my line. (Well, I doubt my line is at fault as the problem in more fundamental than that!!).
They've asked me to provide a couple of calls with the incorrect details. Of course, I can do this only too easily!
If you have details of calls that have had the incorrect Caller ID, it might help to forward these to support to show that it's a bigger problem that they realise. Send time of call, number called and Caller display presented. |
