Many people hear themselves echo when they call me. I have heard it myself when I call on my cell to our house. It happens to people who call on a cell phone and a regular house phone.
I have a linksys router. I also have a wireless router and one laptop.

What type of modem (model, and manufacturer)? Which ISP? What order are your devices in?
Run a detailed test at testyourvoip.com to boston. |

I have Road Runner Cable; The cable modem (Surfboard - SB4100) to Linksys Wireless Router (WRT54G) to LInksys Vonage Router (TR31p2) and then my phone is plugged directly to the Vonage Router.

For those of you who are interested or have the same problem, I finally called Vonage. After the first phone call, it did not help. After the second phone call, it corrected my problem. I think it may have been TiVo related. Anyway, they fixed the problem.
Unfortunately, I had to wait on the phone for around fourty minutes on hold between the two phone calls. I was told that they have fewer calls in the evening 7 p.m. EST. |

I have noticed an echo the past couple of days on my end of the line. I can hear myself talk. Never had the problem before. Not on every call. Sure it will go away. |

The ideal setup for best quality of service is for the Vonage box to be connected directly to the cable modem. Try placing the Linky router behind the Vonage hardware.
