[B]I've searched the forum to no avail for over a month and can't find the answer to my problem.

To simplify.

When I set the feature to "simalring", my home phone rings twice and then transfers to my cell phone no matter the number of seconds set which doesn't give me enough time to pick up on my home phone..(I've disabled the home phone answering device.)

When I set the feature to a 20 second "call-forwarding" instead of "simalring" to my cell phone, the caller tells me that it rings about six times or more times before forwarding to my cell phone. And then, when I pick up the call on the cell phone, after @ a minute, the call drops on my cell phone and my home phone starts to ring.

What the #%*!.

In my business, I can't afford to miss ANY calls because each one of them is worth $60 plus and I don't want the customer waiting for ten rings and then thinking I'm dead and calling some other facility.

Before Voip, I manually forwarded on my land-line before departing for the field and then manually unforwarded when returning home because I turn the cell phone off when at home. Always. Don't like cell phones; hate cell phones and use them when forced to do so.

Simalring sounded great in theory. Even auto-forwarding was an improvement. That is if I can manage to get either working as advertised.

This round robin, time-consuming insanity is driving me nuts

Can anyone in cyber-land inform me as to where I am off-base?

Please keep it simple; I am no expert when it comes to either Voip or telecom. That's not the way I earn my money. Obviously.

Here's my ideal.

I would like my home phone to ring simaltaneously with my cell but for the home phone to at least ring five times in order that I can pick it up without breaking my neck or a leg in the process or kicking the dog or one of the kids out of the way. And, I don't want the caller to count to ten or more rings when I only hear four or five at my end.

Or call-forwarding that accomplishes the same without dropping the cell phone call in mid-conversation and ringing back to my home phone

What cell phone service do you have?

If I, as a layman, were to interpret the behavior you described I would say that when your cell phone provider is getting a call they actually answer it and then transfer it to your phone.

For what it is worth, both Simulring and Call Forwarding work fine with both my T-Mobile phones.

I would try simulring with a friend's or colleague's cell phone from an alternate provider to determine if the problem is with Vonage or with your mobile carrier and go from there.

I'm having similar problems with my cell phone but havnen't done enough testing to post all my results yet, which I'll do in the next few days. I have SprintPCS.

welp i have sprint pcs and i have the simulring thingy. it will ring my cell phone on the 3rd ring of the house phone. i have 4 lines on the pcs account if this matters but i only use this particulal phone as a spare and thus its the only one that the calls go to...

[B]I have T-Mobile as c-phone provider. No solution to problem as yet. I have gone back to simal-ring from call forwarding and when home, I now keep the c-phone turned on and the cordless near me. Inconvenient but the only way I can assure that I will catch the incoming on my cordless rather than the cell-phone.

Any suggestions?
