PostPosted: Mon Jul 11, 2005 2:06 pm    Post subject: Extra adapter for travelling Reply with quote Back to top

Is it possible to have 2 adapters to use for travelling that way one could be at your main residence and the other at your hotel? Could this been done with only 1 Vonage line or would it require 2 lines (1 for each adapter)?

If it required 2 lines would it be possible to enable/disable the second line, so you only paid for the second line when when traveling? If so would there be any charges other than the monthly fee? Could you keep the number on the second line even if you did actually use it all the time (it wouldn't really matter - SimulRing)?

Thanks

We had a thread previously where we concluded you would need two lines.

I doubt that you could get this through Vonage. They state that they cannot put accounts on hold.

Have you considered using the SoftPhone option?

I don't mean to put the account on hold, but to sign up for a 2nd line at the start of the trip and then discontinue service at the end of the trip.

There is a $10 activation fee for almost everything (SoftPhone, Fax Line, Virtual Numbers). I would expect the same is true for Add A Number unless they charge the full $30 activation fee.

I think that section 3.6 of the TOS would apply ($40 termination fee per line) because you are talking about using a second adapter that was subsidized by Vonage.

So $50-$80 on top of the monthly charge. However I can't access parts of Vonage's site currently so I can't get a better answer.

scerruti is right about termination, it does apply. So does activation .

If you were to add a line the way you are suggesting, .
You would have to pay the following

activation ($29.99)
monthly plan(either $14.99 or $24.99)
Termination fee($39.99)
+tax

Per trip $87.82-$98.12 depending on the plan. Thats also without the 1 time price of a router/adapter.

I dont see how this would be feasible for anyone.

Yeah that would be pretty pointless.

I didn't realize you needed a new voice plan for each line - I thought they shared the minutes.
