The 8 connections seen in the pic are as follows: Quad wire coming in on the bottom and then the wiring from the mod jack on the top. This does not look like daisy chain wiring. Your downfall is quad wire. Its doesn't do a good job at keeping out interference and cross talk (if you had two lines). In the old days, that yellow wire was used for party line phones I believe. Try disconnecting all your yellow and black wiring. All you need is red and green. The easiest thing is to isolate your wiring. Hook up your phone directly to the adapter and check the quality. Then move on and check each home run. The best solution is to run new wiring. |

damn - i kinda figured that. i am not sure what i am going to do now.
what if i were to get a regular splitter like this one: Phone Splitter
and plug the rj15 end into the Vonage adapter, and then in one port of the splitter plug my wireless phones and then from the other port of the spliiter go to my house wiring to feed the tivos. would that work? |

That's about the same as what I did.
My Vonage adapter feeds a splitter which then goes to my house wiring on one side and to my answering machine/phone on the other. |

The only problem I had was when I split it originally into this setup:
Split 1: splitter ---> fax machine ---> modem ---> phone Split 2: splitter ---> to house ---> about 3-4 other phones
The problem was that this caused a lot of crackling and buzzing on the line because I had too many phones connected to it. That's why you should not exceed 5 phones in your system. Your expandable cordless system should be okay with more than 5 phones though since it's all based off one jack.
I figured I didn't use the fax machine much and then also unplugged another phone I never use and that worked perfectly. |

I currently have 7 phones off my RT31P2. 6 out of 7 are old school Western Electric phones if that matters. All wiring is CAT5. Everything works fine. |

I'll also add my recommendation for the Uniden TRU88xx series... I originally got them for my vacation residence and almost immediately bought a set for my main residence. Decent range, good sound quality, good feel to them. |
