Q1. If my primary Vonage account and softphone account has the same area code, will my primarry account be billed if I forward the primary account to softphone?
Q2. Say my primary account gives me 500 minutes of long distance. If I get a softphone account, does the number of free minutes increase to 1000? Or, the two accounts kep separate with 500 free minutes each?
Thanks

A1: It seems to count as an in-network call that doesn't count towards the 500 minutes. I downgraded my primary service to the $15/month thing and forward everything to the softphone number. A2: separate. You can't use the 500 minutes of the primary number for outbound calls unless you use the wretched ATA device to make the calls.
So if you use a softphone exclusively, it effectively becomes a $25/month account with 500 outbound minutes included.
I use Asterisk myself, and use another provider for outbound calls so that I can set the callerid to match my primary number. Making calls on the softphone account uses the softphone's callerid, which is what I didn't want. |
