Is your computer connected to the WRT54GS or the RT? |

Make sure you have Remote Administration enabled on the RT- this lets you through its firewall to access the administration. Administration - Management Remote Administration: Enabled Administration Port: 8081 You cannot use 192.168.15.1 to access the RT from outside of its network. If you know its IP (from the internet section) you can put it in this format 192.168.xxx.xxx:8081. If you do not know its IP (from the internet section), look under Status > Local Network > DHCP Client Table. You should see the RT in this although it may not be labeled. If need be, use the process of elimination by "crossing out" the IPs you know are your computers and then ending up with the RT's IP. DHCP Chart Example tronixx 192.168.1.101 192.168.1.106 (router) tronixx_laptop 192.168.1.103
I only have a RT31P2 so the instructions may not be perfect for the WRT54GS, but they should be close enough.
GrandAmGuru:
| Quote: | Here's my setup with the WRT54G -> RT31P2. Maybe give this setup a try (you just need to replace the 200 references with the default 100)
WRT54G: Internet Connection Type: DHCP Router IP : Local IP Address: 192.168.1.200 Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 DHCP Server: Enabled Starting IP Address: 192.168.1.201
WRT54G Apps & Gaming - Port Range Forward: Application: Vonage Start: 8081 End: 8081 IP Address: 252 Enable: checked ** this will allow me to access my RT31P2 (located behind my router) from remote locations
RT31P2: (Straight through Ethernet cable from port 1 on WRT54G to Internet port on RT31P2) Internet Connection Type: Static IP IP address: 192.168.1.252 (this puts it outside the range of IP's that could be assigned by the WRT54G DHCP server) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway: 192.168.1.200 (LAN side IP address of WRT54G) DNS1: information from WRT Status -Router DNS2: information from WRT Status -Router
Router IP: Local IP Address: 192.168.1.15 (I won't be plugging anything into this router so I left this at default) Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Local DHCP Server: Disabled
Administration - Management Remote Administration: Enabled Administration Port: 8081 |
