When I had land line it displayed numbers as 000-000-0000 now its all smushed like 00000000000 which is the Europe format and the US format is 000-000-0000 which is much easier to read! specially when caller ID only shows a number and not a name |

From what I understand of the caller ID specification, numbers are sent without any hyphens whatsoever. It's your phone or caller ID equipment that puts those hyphens in. Most phones/caller ID units can't handle that extra digit that Vonage throws in (which can make identifying incoming international calls a bit easier) and they just display 13 digits, unhyphenated. There are some phones and caller ID units that can handle the 13 digit number and will display the hyphens properly. The PhoneTray software on my computer does it quite nicely.
I really don't have any advice on how to handle this. Vonage won't change the way they send CID info, so you've got to find a device that works. (For the record, my phone just displays 13 digits unhyphenated, but I can see names so it's no big deal.)
Good luck! |

Hey thanks for your reply... Yeah it's no big deal as I'm loving the quality of it I just got Vonage this past saturday... I also use Phonetray and YAC for use with my XBOX to transmit callerid while I'm watching a movie on my tv and so on... They both work great! What I do miss is that when I use to call my land line from my cell my name would show up but now it just says Wireless Caller |

I contacted Vonage CS and they stated that it could be the caller's phone service (such as a cell company) or it could be just some sort of glitch in the system. If i find out more info, i will let you know |

this has been talked abou tbefore.. some ppl are getting the calls as 10 digits, and others as the full 11 digits..
just about all calls to my SC # are comming in with 10 digits(about 80% of the time), but calls to my ON # are always 11..
plus I get "Cell Phone SC" (or whatever state/province) when incmomming on SC#, but "private name" on my ON#.. this has always been.. |
