PostPosted: Sat Jul 09, 2005 12:54 pm    Post subject: Wireless drops with WRTP54G after the .37 upgrade? Reply with quote Back to top

The subject pretty much says it all.

My wireless connection was rock solid up until the .37 upgrade. I wasn't even aware of the upgrade until my wireless connection started flaking out. I went into the admin pages to see what was up and noticed the new firmware version. The drop is usually only a second or two, but that's sometimes enough to kill my VPN connection. There's not a steady drop in signal strength or quality, it simply drops then returns.

Am I alone on this one?

Cheers,
CJC

I have noticed from time to time, my wired connection on the WRTP54G will drop for a second or two, this also started after the upgrade to 1.00.37 firmware. I am not sure if it is coincidence or if the new firmware screwed something up.

I have the same problem. I am not sure whether this happened with the latest firmware. But I suspect that my Netgear MP101 media player is freaking out because of this and randomly dropping connection. I never had this issue with my old Netgear router.

I should have just bought PAP adapter and stayed with my netgear router instead of this linksys crap.

Is there a way to use this linksys crap strictly as a phone adapter in conjunction with my netgear router. I would much prefer to do that.

I have had similar issues with wireless dropping and VPN. My wireless connection will drop for a few seconds and if I am connected to VPN it will drop. I have also had a heck of a time getting my VPN connection to consistently work. I have to reset my WRTP54G (sometimes multiple times) and then it finally connects. I can try it again ten minutes later and it won't let me connect until I reset it again!

Very Frustrating!

My VPN connections are almost impossible to make behind the WRTP54g with the 1.00.37. It makes no difference if I use a Wireless or wired connection. If I connect directly to the cable modem (bypass the Linksys) it works every time. Please fix this Linksys/Vonage.

At least you guys can still talk through it.

The status of my phone 1 shows call status of 'seized' when there is a Vonage line assigned to that port and 'progress' when the number is assigned to phone 2.

Not only that, but phone 2 has a series problem with clicking in the background.

All the way through calls. Whether I'm talking or just listening to the dial tone. Users on the other end can hear it to.

I may be wrong about this one but if you are hearing clicks during dial-tone then you have a hardware problem with the Terminal Adapter (TA). I'm fairly certain that the dial-tone is generated by the TA itself so it would be doubtful that the firmware is causing the clicking otherwise we all should hear it. I assume you have 1.00.37.

See the top post at this link for a reference to dial-tone... http://www.vonage-forum.com/ftopic2613.html

I had the same problem...bought a 5.8ghz phone and I haven't lost the wireless yet. My problem with the WRPT54G is the wireless is way slooooow. My cable speeds are in excess of 4Mbps, but then through the wireless is slows to less than 1.5Mbps...Is there a setting I need to change? It's that slow even with excellent signal strength and a 54.0 connection.
thanks
Fran
