Post subject: Problem with Vt1000v obtaining IP address
I have just signed up and cannot get the Vt1000 to lease an IP address from
optimum online
through my
surfboard 4200
cable modem.
If I put the vt1000 on the other side of my router (linux box) and use my own DHCP server (linux box) the vt1000 successfully leases an IP address and successfully connects with
Vonage
- the phone works fine but I think my my router drops packets here and there and I get occasional gaps/clicks in the audio.
In otherwords:
Optonline <---> surfboard <---> router / DHCP server (linux) <---> hub <---> vt1000
works but with some audio quality issues
In the process of confiming that my router is the problem, I decided to connect the vt1000 directly to the cable modem.
Optonline <--> surfboard <---> vt1000
Doesn't work
When I hook a PC up to the PC port of the vt1000 and hit the admin web site the status page shows IP address of 0.0.0.0
I've confirmed through the admin interface that the vt1000 is configured to lease an IP address via DHCP as opposed to using a fixed address.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks in advance!

You need to unplug/replug your cable modem after you disconnect your linux router otherwise optonline will not issue a new ip.
