Post subject: Direct to Router or In the Wall?
Can anyone recommend where to plug in the phone? Direct to the router or in the wall?

If you are only using one phone and it is near the router then you should plug it into the router.
The only time you would want to connect your router to your home's phone wiring is if you wanted to make use of additional phones in other locations throughout your house. If you want to do this there are other steps that you must take to protect your equipment from damage.
