Post subject: Can't hear person on other end after 16 mins
Hopefully someone here can help me figure out my problem
For the past 2 days, any call placed or received works fine for the first 16 minutes then you can no longer hear the person on the other end. They can still here you. It is consistently 16 minutes. This has happened on at least 6 occasions which can been seen in the call activity log on vonage.com.
My setup is as follows:
Time Warner Cable connected to a Toshiba 2500 Cable Modem connected to a WRT54G Wireless router with port QOS setup and enabled connected to the WAN port of the RT31P2. This configuration has been working great for approx 2 months with no problems.
I am running the Sveasoft Alchemy-V1.0 v3.37.6.8sv firmware on my router. I previously had the RT31P2 connected directly to the cable modem and had daily problems with the router losing the internet connection so I switched it around and it has been working better than ever in this configuration for the past 2 month.
Everything else checks out on the internet connection fine. Using
www.testyourvoip.com
placing a test call to Boston results in a 4.2 and following are the results from
www.vonage-forum.com/voip-speed-test.html.
My Results
Download 2,591,744 bps
Upload 274,968 bps
QOS 96%
RTT 52 ms
MaxPause 40 ms
A 12 hour trace using Ping Plotter to Google.com as returned a 28ms average response time with NO packet loss.
Any idea what might be causing this problem or what I can do to correct it?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Post subject: 16 minute curse
I have had the same problem for the same amount of days i am hoping vonage fixes this because I have Comcast in KY and it has the same exact problem on outgoing calls only.
My pingplotter test has no issues either.
They skirted the issue with me personally.

I am sorry to hear that you are having the same problem, but I am glad to hear that it is not just me. I searched the forum and didn't see any other posts about the same issue, so I figured it was just a problem on my end. I am in High Point, NC so we are obviously not having this problem because of our ISP. That has been Vonage's excuse when I called.
If anyone else is also seeing this same issue, please post here and tell us what area you are in.
Thanks,
J.R.

Post subject: dropped calls
My calls get dropped, but not at any particular interval. Today it has happened 10 times. Some days go by and I don't have a single call drop. In the middle of a conversation, the call just ends, without warning.
Vonage just replaced my Cisco ATA with a Linksys RT312p, becasue of the same issue. I have had Vonage service from Oct, 2003, and the problem has never gotten fixed. I've been told, vy Vonage service, that it is a Comcast problem, not Vonage, but my internet service is just fine.
I want to keep the vonage service, but it is driving my children crazy. I have a Motoroal 5120 modem, Comcast, and a wireless Netgear router connected to the RT312p.
Any suggestions?

Post subject: Cant Hear Person on the other end
This thread is not encouraging news for me. I have been experiencing the same problem described here. While talking on the phone suddenly the other person can't hear me. I can hear them fine. If the other person is patient enough and waits long enough, they can hear me again. Vonage wants a ping plot to yahoo and suggests the problem is packet loss. You guys are saying that isn't your problem. I'm using Earthlink High Speed through Time Warner Cable in Raleigh, NC. I'm supposed to email my results this weekend. Hopefully the problem will be resolved soon. If I learn any tricks I'll definitely post them

Im in Calgary Canada and I am having the same issue. Looks like its not just happening to the US guys.
Every 16 minutes. Its really annoying and I dont want to call tech support cuz I stay on hold longer than 16 minutes and I get bumped off.

This is exactly what happened to me too. I called a person whom I have called several times over the past month, for over 30 minutes each time. Two days ago I called and after 16 minutes I could no longer hear him. So i hung up and called back. He had heard me all the time, however. We talked for another 16 minutes -- then he was gone. The call log showed my calls were 16, 16, and 11 minutes long!
Location is Northern NY. Time Warner cable/RoadRunner --> SB310 modem --> NetGear Router (wired) --> RT312p and PC
Typical Bandwidth Results
Download 3.89 bps
Upload 2.65 bps
QOS 90%
RTT 56 ms
Max Delay 80 ms
I hope Vonage can find a solution to this problem soon.
Except for this call Vonage has been excellent for the month I have had it.

Post subject: Re: 16 Min. Curse
I haven't been provided with a solution yet, but my wife informed me that if you "click over" (press flash) like you are going ot place a 3-way call and they click back over, all is good again for another 16 minutes. Not the optimal solution, but at least you don't have to hang up and call back.

Interesting. Over the last couple of days, we have had drops at the 16 minute mark. From looking at my account, it seemed to only happen on outgoing calls.

I just had a 25 minute outgoing phone call so it doesn't happen everytime.
