Post subject: I have instructions on how to UNLOCK Linksys PAP2 Adapter.
If you are like me, I cant stand it when I buy a product outright to use and a company feels like they have to own MY product. I dont think so. Anyway if you want to mess with your adapter, just make sure you know what you are doing, because Vonage locks you out of certain settings so that you wont mess them up. If you do mess them up, I wont take any of the blame considering I got this information from VONAGE, Not from hacking. Hope it works for you.
Follow these step to unlock the ADMIN portion of your Web Interface Linksys PAP2 Adapter.
First keep the PAP2 adapter from accessing the Internet
by unplugging your the cable modem.
Now do in these steps:
Pick up your phone and dial:
****
Then dial 73738#
Password is: (usually) 7756112# could be: 8995523#
enter 1 to confirm press # Hang up
pick up the phone and dial
****
then 7932#
Password is: 78196365
Press 1 to Confirm and then hang up.
This just enabled the Web Interface if needed.
Now if you need the IP address of your PAP2 Dial
****
Enter: 110# and put that number in your Web Browser
You should gain access to the web server at this point.
Here is the fun stuff. Click Admin Login in the top right hand side.
I assume this is where many people have been stuck!
User name: admin
Password: kImkGPHA
CASE SENSITIVE!!
Anything you do after this is up to you!

2.8 Tampering with the Device or Service. You shall not change the electronic serial number or equipment identifier of the Device or to perform a factory reset of the Device without our prior written consent. We reserve the right to terminate your Service if we believe, in our sole and absolute discretion, that you have tampered with the Device. In the event of such termination, you will remain responsible for the full month's charges to the end of the current term, including, without limitation, unbilled charges, plus a termination fee, if applicable, all of which will immediately become due and payable. You shall not attempt to hack or otherwise disrupt the Service or make any use of the Service that is inconsistent with its intended purpose.
I assume that also means posting the admin name and password on a website....
Also, if you don't like the idea about buying a certain product, etc then why did you buy it knowing full well that is how it was set up etc?

how would anyone know full well that a web admin page is blocked on first access? not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone, but this is a sore spot for a lot of people.

I have seen, just like you have, alot of people complain about a Vonage/Linksys product being Vonage specific...I guess that I am a believer that if it says Vonage etc on the box, instructions, needs Vonage service etc to work then in would be Vonage specific..
Also, it only take a quick search or two before you go buy one etc to find that information out...

Actually it doesn't considering that the admin and password have nothing to do with a vonage device OR service. In fact as far as I know when I bought my device, I have looked but I dont see anything that tells me I am not allowed to use my PAP2 Adapter for services other than Vonage. And in regards to me posting about how to access a device, There is nothing that say you cant access it. Look it up in the dictionary, WAIT I looked it up for you.
tampering
A noun
1 meddling, tampering
the act of altering something secretly or improperly
I am not telling anyone to alter anything! In fact all I am doing is helping people learn and see their configuration in the device. This is not tampering considering it doesn't change a thing. There is nothing in any terms that says you can not access the Web Service. Thanks though for your opinion. In regards to losing your service. I would imagine that if people did tamper with the device, then it would most certainly mean that they dont want the service any more to begin with.

Post subject: Another statement
I actually received permission to reboot etc... and received these instructions from Vonage directly. It is not my job to inform people on what they are and are not allowed to do although I did advise that they dont tamper unless they know what they are doing. I only gain knowledge through Vonage. I believe that would be consent for me to do what was instructed in my post in order to access my device. I leave it up to the users of the device to find out if its ok by whatever service they have to access the device. Hell, I dont even know if it works for anyone but me.
