I was curious so I gave this a try. The first step, the reset, works fine for me, but the password on the second step to activate the web browser access didn't work. I think it must be box specific.
My router never challenged me for a password - try opening the standard configuration menu first 192.168.102.1 , then try the admin feature. After hours on the phone trying to get this resolved, I sent an email and this was the response.
Note: I did find that I needed to reset my cable modem twice before the VT1005v would respond and connect.
Hope this helps.
1. Open Internet explorer from the computers connected to the Motorola
phone adapter. In the address bar,
type "http://192.168.102.1/admin.html" and hit enter.
Select "Restore to factory defaults" as "Yes" and click on "Save
Changes". Wait for 2 minutes.
2. Now disconnect power cable from the modem and phone adapter.
3. Connect power cable to modem and wait for 2 minutes to complete the
booting process.
4. Connect power cable to motorola adapter and wait for 2 minutes to
complete its booting process.
5) Connect a telephone to the "LINE 1 and 2" connector using a standard phone line.
6) Check that the POWER light on the Motorola Phone Adapter turns
solid green. Wait about two minutes for the digital phone adapter
to startup. You must wait at least five minutes before using your
phone.
7) Pick up the telephone handset and listen for a Dial tone. If you
hear a dial tone, you have finished the installation and can begin
making calls.

I have the PAP2 adapter, not the Motorola adapter. the PAP2 does require the password.

I am curious to why people want to unlock their Vonage adapters. What settings do people modify? What's the advantage?
Thanks....

I for one would like to get into the VoIP tab and be able to modify things like jitter buffer, etc without having to call into tech support all the time to change/trouble shoot things.

I debate this one quite a bit...there are people who just want it to "work" and not have to mess with anything...That is one of the reasons the rt31P2 is sent out...plug it in, pretty basic. It's those types of people that don't have much knowledge that they want to keep out of there because if you start messing with the settings, that means increased calls to tech support...
On the other hand you have very knowledgable people who know what the settings are etc and want to be able to make the changes, but are locked out....
On the "third" , you have people that want to use it with another service, and since it is Vonage specific you can't..They can unlock it for a fee of course, but some people dont want to pay it.

I asked a friend of mine travelling to the US to bring me the unlocked one but he made a mistake so I'm now stuck in Europe with a device
locked to an US service provider... Very useful!!!
How much is this unlock fee??? No one at Vonage ever offered me this option in the several times I called... Who do I call???
The admin password floating around doesn't work for me
The second step in the "recipe" is not really needed... My pap
device has the web interface enabled by default.
