I usually ssh into a remote server and leave myself logged in. Since getting this RT31P2 I find that my sessions get dropped and I can't see a way around it (as far as the RT31P2 is concerned).

I'm not sure how this is going to affect any virtual networks that I may be connected to (going to try one in a while) but I don't think it is acceptable to have connections dropped without defining that they should be.

Anyone else have a similar problem?

Was having the same problems with SSH sessions with RT31P2. Didnt know that the router was causing the problem though. Thought it was the host. At least I can look into it now Lol

I tried to instructions in the other thread that was mentioned but still no good. This is getting very, very annoying. Is it just this particular piece of equipment?

same thing happens here. I am using Putty. Connections just drop unexpectantly. I upgraded to an RTP300 after using a motorola unit and a netgear router. This never happened using my older products.

I'm about ready to give Vonage the push. Three reasons.

1) This constant disconnect isn't just ssh sessions, but it's also IM sessions too. I'll suddenly loose all persistant tcp/ip connections.

2) Sometimes I get an awful clicking on the line that is very loud and annoying.

3) The commercials they're running here are really p!$$ing me off.

Well, giving Vonage the push wouldn't do you any good if you continued to use the RTP as your broadband router.

And if your going to buy a new router anyway, why not connect the RTP behind your new router so that no computers connect through it.

I have mine setup like this:

Cable to Wan on WRT, then one of the Lan ports to the WAN on the RTP. That may or may not solve the clicking*, and it definately won't affect fix the annoying commercials, but it'll probably tighten up your SSH connections.

*although it might since the processor on the RTP will no longer be routing traffic, just doing whatever it needs to for Voip
