Much better Vonage service now. Before, I could barely get it to work at the 30 kbps setting. Now I am on 90, and it sounds better than a regular land line. I have Mediacom Cable Modem with 5Mbps down, 256k up. Got me in on a special for $39,95 per month for the first year. Not too bad at all!
Oh, and anyone have info on how long before local numbers will become available around Champaign, IL? What about accurate Caller ID info sent, rather than the "Illinois Caller" that shows up on other people's phones when I call from my Vonage line? |

According to my records, we have a 217-531 Champaign IL area code and prefix at one of our rate centers available to customers.
As far as caller ID, are you a new customer?? |

No, caller ID TO me works fine, just caller ID FROM me that gives my number and "Illinois Caller" as the name. Any way of making it my name instead?
How do I go about changing my number to a Champaign area code? I live in Mahomet, about 10 miles W of Champaign. Numbers here start with 217-586-**** |

| Quote: | | Got me in on a special for $39,95 per month for the first year | When our Road Runner tech installed our cable internet we got a 6-month special but he said if you called and said you couldn't afford it they would probably give you the special again. If you wanted to be honest change "couldn't afford it" to "really didn't want to pay that much". This is using midsouth.rr so I don't know about other areas/ISPs, or even this one, but its worth a try! |
