Mine's at 1.00.37 and the QOS doesn't work worth a lick.
Glad I'm not the only one.

I will cancel the
Vonage
today, but would like to register my problems, just in case someone out there might be experiencing the same.
Beyond what I described in the first post (DNS, phone port1, etc.), I am having continuing issues even after 1.00.37 firmware update.
1) Slow connection with emule. I didn't test the normal web downloading speed, as I've already fed up with other issues;
2) Halt/freeze my PC with no reason.
I am able to recreate the above issues at any time. I have several other wireless routers at home, so I can isolate the problem to the WRTP54G, or at least something to do with it.
At the end, this is the first and only LinkSys equipment that disappointed me. I have so much trust and confidence in them. What a shame.
So long, and good luck!

Just aquestion....
How can your computer Halt/freezes be related to a Router?

Well, you tell me. If the PC works perfectly with all other routers, but whenever it's on the WRTP54G, it freezes in a few minutes, then what conclusion can be drawn? I was cautious to conclude that it might be the router, or something related to the router. This may be caused by a particular combination of system/drivers. Many problems reported by some users can't be recreated by others. Nonetheless, a PC being frozen by a device driver is not uncommon at all.

vonage
sent me. i have been hooked up since yesterday and left all settings as they were on the adapter and the calls i have made and received are working thus far. the caller is clear and LOUDER that on POTS. there's no background hiss as on POTS. all my equipment is linksys. i hope , sir, that you return the wrtp and pick up the pap 2 or get one from
vonage
... the service works.. just seems that particular adapter is not ready for primetime..

Why not disable the wireless and just use the QOS features?

Well...
I am just setting my unit up, but I can tell you as a PC tech for many years, Routers have nothing to do with system/drivers/device drivers. Completely different issues. Your talking oranges and apples.. You shouldn't have to install ANYTHING on your PC, the only think you do is select static/DHCP on your network card which you do with any network connection.
As I can't defend or swear at this new product, I can tell you that before hashing down on
Vonage
or this router, you should understand the technology and terminology a bit better first.
I have been with
vonage
for a few years now, signed up in the very beginning, using the old motorola software box, if you want to talk about some problems with multiple routers/VPN hardware boxes working/fighting over IP's, I can tell you tons, will be messing with this one tonight, and see what problems it has. But for the most part, the problems I have seen in the threads are good news to me, as most problems are lack of networking understanding.
Again, I am not trying to be hard on you or anyone else posting here, just sad to see you leave when you got a free device to join, and a much lower phone bill from now on probably, and you can't dedicate some time to figure it out. The fact your posting on this board, means you have the talent, hang out maybe someone can help you out with your problems, give you a "how to setup your router for best performance walkthrough" or something like that. (Ok, now it sounds like I am selling
Vonage
.. Bah)
Good luck with your new
VOIP
providers
I can't wait to get Router/Phone/Wireless working in one box to get rid of the 2/3 other ones I had in my network.
G.

I have to agree with Guardian.....there is no real way that installing the router will change anything on your PC...if it is then you have bigger issues to deal with...

The router has nothing to do with the problems in your PC.

I can confirm those computer problems here.
I know all about the osi model etc etc...
What seems to be happening is either the router is feeding garbage DHCP responses or the NIC is having issues handling them. I haven't gone into deep troubleshooting mode as I'm so pissed at this crap WRTP54G router that I'm taking it back tomorrow.
Summary of my experience as it relates to this man's freezing problem.
I have an HTPC (shuttle ss51g) using an integrated realtek ethernet controller, when I boot the machine plugged into the router it will hang indefinitely on the wecome screen. When unplugged or plugged into my netgear, everything works fine.
I know its not the machine, I use it daily, as it serves as my "tivo-like" machine and the problem started occuring the minute I plugged into this glorified toaster.
Sorry for not being overly technical, but I'm too tired right now.
